International Women's Day Giveaway!
We posted a blog a little while ago about what to do about March. We like to have a theme for each month and a giveaway package to go with it, but this month had us stuck. As I’m sure you know, and as we posted about, Saturday was International Women’s Day. I’m not sure how we didn’t think of this sooner!! (oops). As I scrolled through my Facebook feed, looked at the posts, and read through the comments, I started thinking about all the women in my life that I’m eternally grateful for. Finally we knew what to do about March! Better late than never. So we’re gifting our BFF BeautyGram to one of the many women in your life that truly deserves it. Here’s a couple of mine:
I’m thinking about my mother today. There will be so many mothers on this list! We always appreciate our mothers, but today she’s driving me absolutely insane in the way that only she is capable of. From over 1000 km’s away, we have the same connection we’ve always had, and in this moment, I feel just like I did when I lived under her roof. She’s informed me that “okay cool” is not an appropriate response to her text messages and she would like me to use more formal language when responding to her. I typed out a formal text message, addressed it “Dear Mom” and signed it “Regards,” with my full name. She informed me that I was not amusing and she did not find this funny. Classic. She used an emoji of an especially distraught face. So now I can’t tell the severity of the situation. Emoji’s can never be used in a serious way. Everyone knows that. Today, I’m reminding myself that I am always especially grateful for her. Obviously. But I’ll be even more grateful for her tomorrow when I’m less irritated. We are the best and the worst parts of each other because we are exactly alike. Everything I know, I learned from, about, or because of her. She is my everything. She gave me everything she could and she probably always will. I would send her this BeautyGram … tomorrow, because she deserves it, primarily for dealing with me, and the siblings that are so much like me. I would send it to her because of how much she’s given, how much she does, and because of how much I won’t even begin to understand until I have children of my own.
I’m grateful to all the women I go to school with. One BeautyGram would work because I’d split the products among all of them. We came from all over Canada and ended up at this school together, each of us in this new city for the first time. We initially bonded because we needed plans, because we spent most of our time literally lost, missing people, and generally inconvenienced by our lack of knowledge about the city. We bonded over all of this but we’re eight months in and they’ve made my time here unforgettable. We lean on each other, we rely on each other, we make everything easier. They make this city feel like home and I’m so grateful to have them in my life.
I am forever grateful to both my bosses. I am always looking to them for guidance and direction in more than just business. They are patient and tolerant. They are beautiful and kind. I don’t know if I’ll ever find better teachers to work for so I try to appreciate and enjoy every moment. For the opportunities and so much more- I appreciate them.
