Thank you to all you lovely ladies for submitting your entries of best or worst or both date! The stories were all great to read even if they consisted of someone trying to make you a pencil … LOL but we have chosen one luck winner. Worst dating experience: I went on a blind date with a guy who in the middle of dinner announced that in his free time he made pencils. I attempted to look interested and gave him a big smile and a “that’s great!” He was excited to see my “interest” and took something out of his front pocket and presented it to me. No, it wasn’t a pencil. I looked at him confused. “That’s a pen.” I said. It was a regular old pen you can find at any store.

My husband and I dated long distance for years as he is in the military and I was in Calgary. We made a silly bet on a hockey game, whoever lost had to create a surprise date night. We were enjoying a relaxing morning together when he looked at the time and said “you have six hours to do whatever you need to be ready for date night. Here’s the dress for tonight.” So off he went and I started to get ready for what, I wasn’t sure! He showed up on my front door step in full military dress uniform with flowers. He whisked me off on a very random drive to try to throw me off as to where we were going. He pulls into the parking lot and tells me we have balcony seats to see The Nutcracker. We enjoyed the ballet and when it was done, we had Wendy’s. It was the most romantic and silly and amaZing date!

worst date experience: when i thought we were just friends hanging out but he thought it was a date!
best: when my husband proposed.
favourite way to spend a date: just a simple date, walking the dog.

Best Date Night Memory ever was when my date picked me up in a limo and drove me to a quiet restaurant ~ we talked for hours and enjoyed each others company ~ I still feel that there are gentlemen out there ~ even though you have to kiss a few frogs ~

Best date story: The night I met my husband to be – whom I will be marrying this August 23rd. We met and had communicated through eHarmony. Our first date was on January 23rd, 2007, after only speaking on the phone a few times before. He drove up from Sylvan Lake to Edmonton to meet me. When I first saw him, my heart stopped, I knew in my heart that this would be the man that I would marry one day. Although after that the date wasn’t the best – just being with him was worth it. We had a great dinner, but then decided to go to a movie – nothing great was playing around the time that we were out and about so we ended up going to see a horror flick called the The Hitcher – what a horrible movie that was, not only do I not really like scary movies this movie lacked any sense of a story at all!! So needless to say it was a weird 90 minutes of the date – however, we did bond over how terrible the movie was on the ride back home after that – and we haven’t looked back – in fact we still laugh about how awful the flick was to this day!!

I had a horrible blind date when I was 20. We lived in a small coastal community and had to take the ferry to get into town for the evening. The restaurant we were going to was closed and we clearly didn’t like each other. The worst part was we had to take the ferry back home together and it was uncomfortably silent in the car the whole way. I was so glad when it was over. I ended up meeting my future husband a few months later thank goodness!

Best date hands down: double date with hubby and great friends to Garth Brooks in Vegas followed up with dinner at The Wynn. I’ll take any time alone with hubby now :)

Best date nights are ones at home where we cook dinner together and cuddle up and watch a movie.
I will always remember when my husband and I started dating, we would go for walks that would last hours and find a place along the way to stop and eat. We got to try new restaurants we wouldn’t have normally gone to and we had some of our best conversations while walking.

Worst date story:
A friend of a friend had been asking me out for months, I wasn’t really into him so I kept saying no. Finally, I said yes just to get him off my case. We met up at a pub, where he showed up wearing sweat pants, and it went further downhill from there. The hockey game was on, so he didn’t even talk to me AND he kept drinking to the point where he was definitely drunk despite claiming he wasn’t. The kicker? He asked to split the bill!!! I ordered a $7 app and ended up paying $30. Total waste of my time and money.

I dated a guy once who would only take me out for dinner at restaurants where he had a coupon for!! :( That was one of my worst date experiences – he was too cheap! My favorite date was going taboganning in the winter – we were big kids and had tons of fun playing in the snow!
